We’re in the midst of the highest mileage months for most people and often times with travel comes stress. We’re mentally and physically drained from so much activity which can result in feeling “blah”. What most of us don’t realize is that we aren’t the only thing feeling “blah”, our skin does too! So, when you’re out exploring the world and making memories you’ll never forget, don’t forget to get some rest and take care of your skin. Here are 5 tips that will help your skin when traveling.
1.Hydrate with water!
When we’re busy with traveling and enjoying so many different activities, drinking is not always on the forefront of our minds. We often don’t drink enough for our normal activities, let alone drink enough to accommodate for the extra sweat. If you’re in the sun or doing any activity that causes you to sweat, we cannot stress how important it is to stay hydrated. In a recent article, H-2-O-Yeah!, we discuss the importance of drinking water and keeping your skin hydrated.
2.Moisturize
When we travel, I think it’s safe to say that we all try to find the smallest container of skincare products to take along, especially if it’s going in a carry-on. Image Skincare not only has an array of moisturizers suitable for all skin types, but they also have trial kits which are the perfect size for traveling. You can get all of your moisturizers at Alazzo Med Spa and we’d be happy to help you determine which product would lock moisture into your skin type the best.
3.Wash more often.
When we travel, we’re often exposed to environments that our skin simply is not used to. Whether the air be more dry or have harsher elements, it can take a toll on our skin. It’s important to clean our skin more often to keep from buildup in our pores which can quickly result in unwanted breakouts.
4.Eat fruits and veggies.
Fruits and veggies are a great way to hydrate but they’re also a great way to keep our diet balanced. Not many of us can say that we eat the healthiest meals while traveling. Often times we resort to what’s most convenient or we simply just put calorie counting on pause. Eating fruits and veggies can help keep our sugar intake down and keep us from greasy foods. Sugary and fried foods are common causes of breakouts.
5.Wear and reapply sunscreen often.
Protect your skin! Sun damage wreaks havoc on your skin. If you’re not sure what SPF is right for you, read our article, Choosing the Right SPF Sunscreen – Is More Really Better. Be sure to apply early in the day and note that most sunscreens only last for 90 minutes so keep reapplying often.
