Be SPF smart this summer: tips for ageless skin

It only takes 20 minutes or less for unprotected skin to burn or be permanently damaged from sun exposure. Most people believe that your skin can only be negatively affected by the sun if you are lying out or being exposed long term. However this thought is a myth. Short term sun exposure can be just as harmful and damaging to your skin. Sun exposure can result in unattractive brown spots that may not appear to the eye for years. It can also cause premature fine lines and wrinkles. You should apply a broad spectrum SPF approximately 45 minutes before going outside. When I say broad spectrum I am referring to an SPF that has UVA and UVB protection. If you are going to be exposed for more then just your car ride to and from work or the store you should reapply every two hours. This even applies if your SPF claims to be sweat or water proof. This will help prevent sun damage to give you ageless skin.
