Excessive Sweat? Not Anymore

Do you feel your underarms are getting soaked even when you’re not exerting yourself? You may have severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis is a condition in which the body sweats more than necessary in order to regulate body temperature. The severity of the condition is all based upon how much your excessive sweating interferes with your daily activities. If you feel like it is, Alazzo Med Spa can help.

Treating hyperhidrosis with Botox™

Botox™ was first approved by the U.S Food & Drug Administration in 2004 as an effective way to treat hyperhidrosis. Botox™ is a natural, purified protein that temporarily blocks the secretion of the different chemicals that activate our sweat glands, therefore stopping sweating in the area it is injected in. According to the International Hyperhidrosis Society, research shows that treatment can last up to 14 months but typically lasts 4 to 12 months, depending on severity. Additionally, research has shown that when used to treat excessive underarm sweating, Botox™ decreases sweating by 82-87%.

Why you may need Botox™ injections in your underarms

We all know that sweat is good – most of the time! Our body uses sweating as a way to cool us down. We actually have 2-4 million sweat glands to help maintain our body temperature. If any of the following apply to you, it’s time to seek medical attention and treatment for your excessive sweating:

  • You’ve been using antiperspirants and deodorants and they haven’t been effective in keeping you dry or odor free.
  • You change your shirts frequently due to dampness.
  • You place absorbent materials under your clothing in your underarms.
  • You avoid certain fabrics and clothing styles that show sweat more.

There is no “normal” amount of sweat so if you personally feel that you’re sweating excessively, come in for a free consultation to see how we can help. Stop in to 8927 Fingerboard Road, Suite E, Frederick to schedule your appointment or call us at 301810.5740.
