At Alazzo Med Spa in Frederick, MD, we are always researching new ways to help improve your sense of well-being. We have uncovered a revolutionary way to keep up with the signs of aging. Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BIHRT) is not your grandmothers HRT or even your mothers for that matter, although it should have been! Let us give you a little more information about how this can change your life.
The goal of BIHRT is to provide an adequate supply of a deficient hormone in a form that is molecularly identical to that which your body produces, restoring your body’s normal healthy physiological effects.
Over the past 40 years there has been a decline in testosterone. This was studied in men over the past 20 years and they have discovered a 20% reduction in male testosterone. What is causing this decline? There is evidence that the cause is environmental. If that is the case then there is reason to believe that the decline in testosterone in females is equally concerning.
You may be thinking…. What does testosterone have to do with me? Testosterone is just as vital for women as it is for men. Guys don’t skip this part, it is important for you to understand this as well. Testosterone is the most abundant biologically active hormone in the female body! Women are more sensitive to this hormone therefore we don’t need as high of a level as men do. Testosterone helps estrogen get into the cells! This will assist the ladies with signs and symptoms of low estrogen (hot flashes and night sweats) WITHOUT giving them estrogen! Testosterone also converts over to estrogen. Yes guys, this happens to you as well. Again, for the menopausal women, you do not need estrogen. Testosterone will convert over in the amounts that you need to keep you balanced as long as you are using bio-identical hormones. So don’t worry fellas about getting too much Estrogen – the body is an amazing thing. It will balance how much Estrogen is needed to function optimally. Other hormones such as Premarin and Danzol bind too strongly to our receptor sites causing serious health risks.
Pellet use, for BIHRT, is the most effective way to receive a slow steady release of hormones into the blood stream allowing the body to receive a constant level of hormones that are identical to our own chemical makeup. Resulting in the highest level of efficacy of hormone replacement.
A: There are many symptoms of low testosterone. Do you or anyone you know have any of the following symptoms?
Testosterone is a vital hormone for both men and women to function in a balanced stable way. Often thought of as a male hormone T is just as important to women. Actual testosterone is the most abundant biologically active hormone in the female body! By replenishing Testosterone most people obtain some relief from these negative effects. If you’re experiencing these symptoms, you may want to consider T-therapy.
A: There are numerous T pellet benefits when getting BIHRT. Some can be recognized in the first insertion, others won’t be realized until you have had more than one implant performed. BIHRT:
Benefits are achieved if signs and symptoms are a result of a low Testosterone. Underlying and inherited conditions may prevent realization of some benefits.
A: The beginning to a new you starts with a FREE consultation to discuss your signs and symptoms in order to determine if you are a candidate for BIHRT. You will then be given a lab slip to have your blood drawn after you have been fasting (nothing to eat or drink but water) for 12 hours. Once we have received your labs you will receive a phone call to discuss those results. You are an important part of this process. Together we will determine the appropriate amount of pellets to insert and pick a day and time to make that happen.
Prior to insertion we ask that you not take any medications that may thin your blood or drink any alcohol the night before your appointment. No other preparation is necessary.
On the day of insertion you will be given a local anesthetic to numb an area around your hip/ top buttocks. Once this has taken affect a small incision will be made in this area. An instrument will be painlessly inserted and the pellets (which are about the size of a grain of rice) will be inserted through the instrument and nestled in the fat. A series of steri-strip type bandages will be placed over the area to be removed in 4-5 days. During that time you will be instructed not to do anything strenuous. Nor soak the area in a tub or pool. You may shower. Specific instructions will be given to you at the time of discharge.
4-5 weeks after insertion of the pellets we ask that you repeat the hormone levels of your blood work. This gives us an idea of how your feeling in relation to your blood levels.
Welcome to the new you! At any time you may decide not to continue BIHRT. You will return to the way you felt prior to have Testosterone pellets. BIHRT is a replacement of hormones your body is not making on its own. After BIHRT your body will not begin producing hormones that it wasn’t making prior to therapy. Most people do not quit BIHRT because it makes them feel so good.
