Treatment Process for BIHRT
The beginning to a new you starts with a FREE consultation to discuss your signs and symptoms in order to determine if you are a candidate for BIHRT. You will then be given a lab slip to have your blood drawn after you have been fasting (nothing to eat or drink but water) for 12 hours. Once we have received your labs you will receive a phone call to discuss those results. You are an important part of this process. Together we will determine the appropriate amount of pellets to insert and pick a day and time to make that happen.
Prior to insertion, we ask that you not take any medications that may thin your blood or drink any alcohol the night before your appointment. No other preparation is necessary.
On the day of insertion, you will be given a local anesthetic to numb an area around your hip/ top buttocks. Once this has taken effect a small incision will be made in this area. An instrument will be painlessly inserted and the pellets (which are about the size of a grain of rice) will be inserted through the instrument and nestled in the fat. A series of steri-strip type bandages will be placed over the area to be removed in 4-5 days. During that time you will be instructed not to do anything strenuous. Nor soak the area in a tub or pool. You may shower. Specific instructions will be given to you at the time of discharge.
4-5 weeks after insertion of the pellets we ask that you repeat the hormone levels of your blood work. This gives us an idea of how your feeling in relation to your blood levels.
Welcome to the new you! At any time you may decide not to continue BIHRT. You will return to the way you felt prior to having Testosterone pellets. BIHRT is a replacement of hormones your body is not making on its own. After BIHRT your body will not begin producing hormones that it wasn’t making prior to therapy. Most people do not quit BIHRT because it makes them feel so good.
